Vanilla+Citrus Soy Candle
Vanilla Bean. Orange. Nectarine.
You're making something with vanilla extract and accidentally spill some on the counter next to a bowl of oranges. That mix—warm vanilla with bright citrus cut—that's this candle.
Vanilla+Citrus has actual vanilla bean in there, not vanilla frosting scent. There's orange and nectarine running through it. Some flowers underneath that keep it from being too simple. Coconut at the base adds cream without making it smell like sunscreen.
It's sweet without being dessert. Bright without being cleaning product. The kind of scent that works in kitchens and living rooms and doesn't announce itself from three rooms away.
Light and Go
Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before lighting. Let it burn until the wax melts all the way to the edges—about an hour the first time. Stops tunneling.
Don't burn longer than 1.5 hours at once. Let it cool completely before moving it.
Keep away from curtains, papers, anything that could catch. Don't leave it burning when you're not around.
When there's about 1/2 inch of wax left, you're done. Wash the jar with hot soapy water. Use it for something else.
