Black and White Study
The original work for Black and White Study measures 30 inches square. It was painted on wood cradled panel. I mixed the beeswax, tree resin and pigment at times by hand. I also used Torch brand black and graphite in this work. Torch was the original maker of encaustic paint. My friend Dorothy Masom gifted me a collection of this rare paint.
For this site, I am making fine art prints available for sale. Printed on museum-quality, acid-free 100% cotton rag paper. Hand-crafted sustainably-harvested wood frame made in the U.S.A. Matted with 4Ply RagMat Museum mat board. The glazing is acrylic. Hanging kit, wall bumpers, and detailed directions included.

I share how I experience the mystery and joy of life through my art. I became captivated by encaustic in 2010 and its sustainable properties. Building up layers of wax is fascinating; so tactile and satisfying. It is slow and difficult – just like bees building the honeycomb within hives. This practice takes me into the heart of nature where I thrive. I want my art to inspire with its translucence, radiance, and harmony of the multiple layers, so that you want to preserve it for generations.
